Porch Cottage

Keswick, GB

Porch Cottage is a Grade II listed cottage dating from 1698, beautifully restored and situated a short stroll from Keswick's centre. This characterful retreat retains the right to wash linen in the River Greta and was originally used as a weaving centre for homespun linen. The open-plan living space features an oak-beamed sitting room with alcove seats and log burner, alongside a kitchen and dining area. The kitchen floor showcases original 300-year-old Skiddaw black slate slabs warmed by underfloor heating. Two bedrooms with smart televisions and Egyptian cotton bedding accommodate couples or families of four. One bedroom offers an en-suite shower room with overhead drench shower and hand-held body spray. An enclosed courtyard with outdoor seating and barbecue completes this peaceful, cosy retreat.
